Reproductive medicine / desire for children

We perform individual and comprehensive examinations in case of unfulfilled desire to have children. Many causes that affect natural fertility require specific treatment. If drug therapy is not sufficient, we successfully perform assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). For accompanying psychological and complementary medical support, we will be happy to advise you and refer you to external specialists for this purpose.

diagnostics

We offer the following diagnostics:

  • Assessment of the tubal and uterine factor by means of tubal X-ray (hysterosalpingography), contrast ultrasound (hysterosalpingocontrast sonography), endoscopy of the uterus (hysteroscopy) and abdominal endoscopy (laparoscopy).

  • Assessment of ovulation and hormone status by means of ultrasound examinations and hormone analyses

  • Assessment of the cervical factor through postcoital testing

  • Diagnostic of the male factor by spermiograms, andrological examination and "testicular mapping" in the case of azoospermia

  • Assessment of special genetic causes

  • Endometriosis diagnostics

  • Evaluation of fibroids in relation to the desire to have children

treatment options

As treatment options we offer the following therapies:

  • Hormonal stimulation of the ovaries with triggering of ovulation

  • Insemination with partner's sperm (AIH/IUI)

  • In vitro fertilization (IVF) 🔗

  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) 🔗

  • Freezing (cryopreservation?) of fertilized eggs and blastocysts

  • Surgical sperm retrieval from testis or epididymis (MESA or TESA) in the absence of sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermia)

  • Freezing of oocytes for fertility preservation prior to oncological therapy or for social reasons (social freezing)

  • Freezing of sperm in oncological patients "fertility preservation" and on request.

  • Examination of blastocysts for chromosome defects (PGT-A/-SR) as well as specific mutation detection in case of genetic diseases of the parents (PGT-M)

Minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is performed hysteroscopically (i.e. by means of a hysteroscopy) or with a minimally invasive approach laparoscopically (i.e. by means of a laparoscopy). Avoiding an abdominal incision allows most women to leave the hospital within 24 to 72 hours. The major advantages of minimally invasive surgery are a fast recovery time, low complication rates and a rapid healing phase.

major surgery

We also perform major procedures "minimally invasive":

  • Laparoscopic surgery of fallopian tubes and ovaries.

  • Laparoscopic removal of myomas or endometriosis lesions

  • Hysteroscopic operations on the uterus such as myoma resection, polyp removal

  • Laparoscopic refertilization after tubal ligation

  • Reconstructive hysteroscopic surgery for diseases (e.g. Asherman syndrome) or malformations of the uterus

microsurgery

In specialized hands, microsurgery has a high chance of success in case of localized anatomical damage in both women and men, unless additional infertility factors are added.

Microsurgical operation procedures

We offer the following microsurgical procedures to improve fertility:

  • Microsurgical refertilization after ligation of the fallopian tubes

  • Microsurgical operations in case of occlusion or adhesion of fallopian tubes and ovaries

  • Hysteroscopic reconstruction of the uterine cavity in Asherman's syndrome

  • Microsurgical vaso-vasostomy after male ligation, male refertilization
